I was hired by Kaplan International in 2011 as a freelance contractor tasked with leading the development of their first global eLearning platform. Together in just a few months we launched KIs first international blended learning offering which now supports over 60,000 students annually across the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. After a little over a year I started working for Kaplan on a permanent basis as the Global eLearning (software) Development Manager.
EdComs are an Education and Training consultancy based in London. Loquela have been working together with Edcoms to develop a Moodle-based online corporate training management system for the EDF Energy.
Manchester Adult Education Services
Manchester Adult Education Services at Manchester City Council wanted to migrate their Moodle learning platform from their old America-based data centre and hosting service and bring it back home to the UK. MAES approached Loquela because of our many years of experience of hosting and working with the Moodle VLE.
Having migrated the entire site from the servers in the US to our own UK-based data centre, we continue to host the service on behalf of Manchester City Council and provide ongoing support. Most recently we have upgraded the MAES VLE to the latest version of Moodle and continue to provide consultancy and training services to help the Manchester Council department ensure the best possible return on their investment in e-Learning.
International School of Linguistics
International School of Linguists (a Big Word Company) wanted to upgrade their legacy v.1.9 system to the latest version of Moodle. This was a considerable task due to the giant leap from Moodle 1.9 to Moodle 2.6 and all the legacy plugins involved. In addition to t he upgrade, we also provided consultancy on the optimal hosting configuration which they managed in-house.
Bedfordshire County Council
BCC hired Loquela to provide consultancy in setting up their own in-house Moodle VLE. This consisted mainly of theme work and interface design but we also advised their largely Windows-based IT team on hosting and linux server configuration optimised for Moodle.
are a global “people development consultancy”. Loquela was hired to help them develop and host a Moodle-based online training system for their client Barclaycard. Part of this project was to develop a psychometric diagnostic activity based on the Moodle Feedback module. Since then we have also provided a number of ad-hoc eLearning consultations.
Loquela Associates was selected as the E-learning Partner for one of the Northwest’s leading Training and Development Consultancies, Instep UK. Instep were keen to expand their business model to provide a much broader offering to their many long-standing, prestigious clients and provide an impressive competitive edge for winning new business.
Our first task was to help Instep UK develop and support their own in-house Online Training Management system capable of delivering a variety of online and blended training offerings. Loquela was responsible for developing , hosting and supporting the Instep Online Training Platform using Moodle. As part of the project we converted some of Instep’s traditional print and face-to-face-based training materials into engaging online and blended learning experiences.
In October 2009 we developed a Moodle-based 360 degree feedback assessment tool as part of the AstraZeneca in-house development programme Acting Decisively which was distributed to more than a hundred AstraZeneca workers in Sweden and the UK. The fact that the 360 degree feedback application was online and worked seamlessly within Moodle made it extremely easy and cost effective to manage.

Back in 2006 we were selected to set-up, develop and maintain their online and blended Training Management System using Moodle and we were responsible for hosting and supporting for several years until they became self-sufficient enough to take on the project in-house. As well as supporting the Oakridge online Training Management System, we also developed a bespoke 360 Degree Feedback tool that integrates seamlessly with the Moodle installation and has been deployed successfully for a number of Oakridge clients.
PV21 is a project which forms part of the SUPERGEN (Sustainable Power Generation and Supply) initiative, a programme of research at UK universities funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
This website and CMS project was commissioned by the Physics Department of Durham University in partnership with SUPERGEN (Centre for Solar Energy Research) at Glyndwr University. Loquela Associates was commissioned to convert the visual designs of the website into a new Content Management System that is used primarily for managing and publishing research documents for the project.
The Centre for Solar Energy Research is working on a Feasibility Studysponsored by the Welsh Assembly Government and Glyndŵr University. Loquela was commissioned to develop and host their new CMS powered website. This was our second project working with Glyndŵr University.
