Airstone is a visual design partnership based in Liverpool who’s vision it is ‘to produce exciting and unexpected work that gets results’.I worked with Airstone on the CSER  website converting their graphic design into a fully functional Joomla website. We are currently working on a number of other projects together.

Lucy Martin has 10 years agency experience and was previously Creative Director for a Live Events agency in Manchester. She has worked for a variety of clients including Coors, Phones4U, Sainsbury’s, HBOS, NWDA, Hollyoaks, and Nike.

Tim Irvine has an eclectic portfolio of work as an accomplished Illustrator, Photographer and Tattoo Artist. He is highly skilled with an eye for detail. He also has the business brains, with a previous career in finance where he spent several years in Sales and Account Management for a large International Bank. He has recently launched a new business Stigma Body Art.

Launched on the 3rd of March 2009, japanga.co.uk is a new website for anybody crazy about Japanese pop culture. In particular anime art, J-pop and J-rock.

The ultimate goal of this website is to provide free, easy access to the greatest collection Japanese paraphernalia on the web. The site is still very young, so there is a long way to go.  However, I think it’s off to a good start with already more than 3,000 anime wallpapers! japanga.co.uk also provides access to information on more than 1,200 J-Pop and J-Rock artists including so far 23 videos and 41 free mp3 downloads.

The site uses a lot of database interaction for uploading and downlowding files, serving other dynamic content and tracking/recording user interaction. WordPress is used for the blog section and phpBB is used for the forums. There are a host of more interactive, social networking features planned and you can follow the development of this project on the Japanga Blog.

The Centre for Solar Energy Research is working on a Feasibility Study sponsored by the Welsh Assembly Government and hosted by Glyndŵr University. I was commissioned to develop a Joomla! theme based on the designs of Lucy Martin of Aristone Studio.

Highslide JS a great script that takes all the hard work out of creating beautiful and dynamic thumbnail/pop-up presentations. With Highslide JS the developer Torstein Honsi, from Norway provides us a very compact yet comprehensive gallery-creation library. Torstein is continuously working on improvements and upgrades for the script and the Highslide JS website provides clear, comprehensive documentation as ell as a very helpful support forum.

I worked for the HSE as a contract Web Designer for nine months. It was great to have the opportunity to work on one of the UK’s largest pubic sector websites that constantly ranks higher than all other UK government websites in the Site Morse league table for quality and accessibility. This work required advanced knowledge of XHTML, CSS, W3C standards and WCAG.
