UK online centres is part of UFI Limited, the company behind Learn Direct in the UK. UK online centres is a government-funded initiative whose role it is to support local libraries, community centres and learning centres who provide free access to computer and internet to the most digitally excluded members of our society.
For two years it was my job to manage the development and maintainence of the organisation’s suite of websites and intranet, all of which are individual Joomla! installations. www.ukonlinecentres.com is a membership service that provides support and resources for the networks member centres who provide free internet access and training for members of the public who want to find out how the internet can enrich their lives. www.onlinebasics.co.uk , provides access to free online courses helping the digitally excluded become more internet literate, while www.helppasssiton.co.uk and www.partners.helppassiton.co.uk are the public and steakholder webistes sites providing information and resources to help spread knowledge and skills for making th emost of the internet and its potential to enrich lives.
